Arranging a funeral isn’t something most people have to do very often in their life and so we’re very aware that it can be daunting and confusing for some. There are adverts on the television, radio and online which aren’t always very clear and often will lead to bereaved families paying more than they thought or generally, being utterly confused by the process.
Our approach is different. We believe in keeping things simple, being open and remaining transparent.
When a family suffers a bereavement it is of course a very individual and personal experience, however in every case there are some similar tasks that have to be performed. You can download a very simple leaflet we have compiled to help guide your thoughts regarding these tasks however we are very aware that for some, reading a leaflet just isn’t enough. Please remember that our team of local, professional funeral directors are on hand to guide you through the whole process. We’re available 24 hours a day, even if it’s just for advice and support.
The overall cost of a funeral is comprised by two separate figures. There are our costs (as your funeral director) and there are various third party fees that will need to be paid. Understanding which fees need to be paid in different circumstances can be a little tricky so we have a dediacted page which includes all of our current prices and information about the various third party fees. We don’t believe that bombarding a family with dozens of choices is always helpful but if find that you have something specific in mind, we do have access to a vast selection of coffins and caskets and we will be happy to source something to suit your precise requirements. We have strong working relationships with local florists across the county who offer the same great level of service that our clients expect from us. When requested to do so, we will collect donations in memory of someone. We’ve made it as easy as possible for people to donate. We can receive donations both online and in person by cash or cheque. (You may have noticed the information about upcoming and recent funerals and donations on the homepage of this website already). Everyone who sends us a donation will receive a personalised letter thanking them for their generosity and we will also compile a list of everyone who has made a donation for our client.
Catering and Funeral Refreshments
As part of our service, we will contact venues on your behalf to make the required arrangements for refresments. We have long established connections with lots of local caterers, pubs, restaurants and social clubs for refreshments after a funeral. Costs do vary across the county depending on the venue chosen but reputable establishments will always provide a cost breakdown and menu choices before the final decision is made. When we meet with a client to make funeral arrangements, we will be able to make impartial suggestions and ideas as to which venue would be most suitable for you, so don’t worry if you’re not entirely sure before we meet.
Although the practice of announcing a death in a newspaper has declined in recent years, for many, it is still a very effective way of providing the public with information about the funeral. Writing a death notice can be a little difficult for some but our team is on hand to guide you through the process and can arrange for a notice to be placed in any newspaper, national or local. Using social media is a really effective way of letting friends and relatives know the details for a funeral but if finding the right words is difficult, speak to us and we’ll happily draft this for you.
Printed Orders of Service
Working closely with clergy and celebrants, we will produce the printed service sheets ‘in house’ for a funeral so there is no need to engage an outside design team or print company. You can include pictures, poems, readings, hymn words and even collages to make them a personal tribute to your loved one.
Listing of Mourners
For lots of people, trying to remember who attended a funeral is often met with a haze. When requested, we will send our team ahead on the day of a funeral to greet people as they arrive at the venue, digitally record their names and then provide you a list of attendees. With technology at our fingertips, it is sometimes possible to have the list emailed to you during the funeral so you don’t have to worry about trying to remember names of long lost friends after the service.
Funerals Across the UK
Over the years we have travelled to every corner of the country to conduct funerals for people who perhaps have moved to Norfolk and wanted their funeral to take place in their hometown and we travel across the country and bring people home to Norfolk when this happens in reverse.
Whatever the circumstances or however strange a request might sound to you, we’ll happily work with you to make sure you receive the type of funeral that you think is most suitable.
Bringing People Home From Abroad
If you find yourself in the position where you need to make arrangements to bring someone home if they’ve died abroad, it’s likely you won’t have any clue where to begin. What is already a traumatic time can made much more daunting with international red tape and logistics to consider. We can look after every aspect of this for you. We will arrange for your loved one to be repatriated back to the UK as soon as possible and guide you through the necessary procedures and of course, the arrangements for the funeral.

Stonemasonry & Memorials
We have worked for many years closely with long established local stonemasons who also offer the same high level of attention and care as we do. Headstones of every variety can be provided, either working from designs they have, or incorporating your own ideas and suggestions. We are on hand to advise you about the various options and we will guide you through the tricky rules and regulations that churches and cemeteries often have when it comes to memorials.
We work with two reputable Norfolk companies. Robert Wells Memorials (based in Felthorpe) and H. Brett and Sons (based in Watton), both covering all of Norfolk.
