Our Community work
The support we have received over the years from the communities we serve has been astounding. In our early days, local people popping into our office to wish us well was heart warming and encouraging and of course, when our services are required, we are always very humbled when people choose us to look after a loved ones funeral. As such, we’re always looking at ways in which we can give back to our community.
Aylsham Christmas Lights
We’ve become quite well known in the town for our ‘Mulled Wine Extravaganza’. Each year, on the evening of the Aylsham Christmas Lights Switch On, you’ll find Paul and the team serving free mulled wine, mince pies and sausage rolls to the passers by as they head into the town for the annual event. What started as a small gesture back in 2009 has turned into quite an event in itself and now forms part of many people’s annual Christmas traditions. We had to take a break in 2020 but please, do come and join us in 2021!
Afternoon Tea Party
In 2017, we offered families we had looked after throughout the years to join together at an event designed not as a traditional act of remembrance but at a simple gathering in a warm and light atmosphere with live music, good food and an opportunity to remember and to raise a glass to those they have lost. It was our way of not only saying thank you in a meaningful way to our clients but also to give people the chance to meet with others in the same position as them. We were thrilled with the response from the families who attended the events and both were huge successes. We’ll be organising more events like this later in 2020.
Homeless Supplies Drop Off Point
Our Hingham office also acts a rural depot for people and local organisations who wish to donate clothing, sleeping bags, pillows and personal hygiene supplies for the homeless and those in need in the local area and beyond. If you are able to help, please contact Jason on 01953 850330. We work in conjunction with the Salvation Army (Pottergate) ARC in Norwich and Norwich City Saints.
We are really proud to support the outstanding Hethersett Pantomine Group which has been raising funds for countless charities for over 40 years. Two long serving members of our team, Jon Goodrum and Barry Foster take leading roles in the annual spectacular and it’s become a yearly treat for our team to come together and watch the show in Hethersett Village Hall. For more information about this amazing group and the work they do, you can visit their website here.
