Funerals tend to be held within 7 to 21 days from the date of death although this can vary widely depending on a variety of circumstances, most often the availability at the crematorium. Overall, we find that the waiting time for funerals that will conclude with a burial to be at the lower end of this estimate.
Thankfully, over recent years, we have seen a marked decline in waiting times with the opening of two new crematoria locally and the introduction of new cremation services from local Ceremonial Parks. At one point in the not too distant past, waiting times reached about 6 weeks locally which was a particularly traumatic period for families so we are grateful to be able to offer much shorter waiting times.
Factors to consider when thinking about a date and time for a funeral:
- Pre-booked holidays of relatives/friends who you would particularly like to attend.
- Is there a family birthday or anniversary coming up that you would like to avoid?
- Take into account travel times for those who will be travelling to the funeral.
- What time a wake may commence/finish in relation to the funeral time.
Booking the funeral should always be left to us to organise but we will always endeavour to accommodate your preferred date and time.
